UMG Opens Second Distribution Center to Service the Northeast
UMG Toledo (UMG), a leading North American distributor of natural stone, announced today that it has opened a new tile distribution facility in Edison, New Jersey. The new 100,000 square feet distribution center will stock UMG’s tile products, while the existing 81,000 square feet location has been redesigned and renovated to focus on the market for slabs.
The new tile distribution center is conveniently located less than half a mile from its current facility. The new facility will enable UMG to provide a broader inventory of both tile and slab products to its customers in the Northeast, New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Mid-West regions. Concurrent with the opening, UMG has also completed a new state-of-the-art 25,000 square feet tile and slab showroom in Edison, encompassing over 350 colors of natural stone.
Manu Shah, the CEO of UMG, noted, “From a geographical and distribution perspective, we can efficiently distribute product to approximately 50% of the U.S. population from New Jersey. Accordingly, we decided to make a larger commitment in both inventory and resources to better service our customer base. With the additional space, we can continue to broaden our existing product lines of natural stone and enter new product lines that may benefit our customers.” Indeed, with this additional distribution facility, UMG’s New Jersey branch now boasts over 40 employees and over five million square feet of natural stone inventory available to service its customers.
With the expansion in New Jersey, UMG now has in excess of 25 million square feet of natural stone inventory available in any of its seven distribution centers nationwide. The new tile distribution center is located at 95 Ethel Road, Edison, NJ 08817; (732) 650-1815 (phone); (732) 650-1816 (fax).
